A complete guide to functions, sizes, costs, and choosing the cabin.

A multifunction shower brings together, in the same space, the normal shower function and technologies dedicated to comfort and the wellness experience, such as the Turkish bath, back jets, rain or waterfall shower head, chromotherapy, aromatherapy, and electronic management of functions.

Choosing a multifunction shower cabin means evaluating available space, the functions actually used, the bathroom layout, and the necessary system provisions all together. Our Piùesse cabins can be designed in different sizes and configurations, to adapt to the real project of every bathroom, from the compact +110 range up to double solutions like +160 and +180.

What is a multifunction shower and what can it do.

A multifunction shower cabin combines daily cleansing with functions that are normally separate, bringing them together inside the same shower enclosure. The configuration varies depending on the model: from essential cabins, designed for those seeking mainly an advanced shower without a Turkish bath (such as the Simply line), to complete solutions designed to recreate a SPA experience at home.

Depending on the model, a multifunction shower cabin can integrate:

  • Turkish bath, generates steam inside the closed cabin;
  • Back body jets, direct water jets toward the back/side area;
  • Rain shower head, distributes water from above over a wide surface;
  • Waterfall, produces a jet different from the traditional shower head;
  • Chromotherapy, integrates LED lighting into the shower experience;
  • Aromatherapy, allows essences to be diffused during the session;
  • Touch display, manages functions, times, and temperature of the Turkish bath;
  • Bluetooth/audio, allows audio content to be played from compatible devices.

Not all multifunction showers need to necessarily integrate all these functions. The correct criterion is to start from the intended use and build the configuration around one's daily habits.

The main functions of a multifunction shower cabin.

The functions define the difference between a normal shower enclosure and a multifunction cabin: steam, water, light, and audio can be managed in the same environment, with very different levels of customization from model to model.

Integrated Turkish bath: the shower with Turkish bath uses a dedicated generator to fill the cabin with steam and turn the enclosure into a small hammam environment. In our SPA Piùesse configurations the system can include: professional steam generator with descaling cycle control, dedicated diffuser, container for oils and essences for aromatherapy, touch control panel, duration setting, and temperature control. The closure of the cabin and the correct design of the environment are decisive: a shower with a steam generator should therefore not be evaluated as a simple shower enclosure. Our Piùesse models, for example, have short sides closed by panels in tech composite with a white silk exterior finish, designed specifically to guarantee steam tightness in corner, alcove, or center-wall installations.

Whirlpool massage with back jets: body jets are anti-limescale silicone nozzles inserted into the cabin walls, which direct water jets toward the body, generally in the back and side area. In a multifunction cabin they allow you to alternate between different modes of use: normal shower, overhead shower head, waterfall, back/side jets, and handheld shower. The position of the jets is as important as their number: before choosing, it is useful to check their layout, height, and whether they can be used standing or with an anatomical seat.

Rain shower head and waterfall: rain and waterfall are two different ways of delivering water and can make the multifunction cabin useful even when the Turkish bath is not being used. The rain shower head distributes water from above through numerous nozzles, while the waterfall produces a more concentrated, energizing flow. In several of our Piùesse models, such as Reverso, the ceiling of the cabin integrates both solutions in a single 30x30 cm element, alongside the handheld shower and the body jets.

Aromatherapy and chromotherapy: these personalize the shower environment through essences and integrated lighting. In equipped cabins, aromatherapy uses a container dedicated to essences connected to the steam diffusion, while chromotherapy is achieved through integrated LEDs, for example in the rain-effect shower head or in the cabin's internal elements.

Touch controls, temperature, and programmable times.

The touch panel centralizes the management of the cabin's electronic functions and makes it easier to control a Turkish bath session. It generally allows you to:

  • start or stop the generator,
  • schedule switching on and off,
  • display the operating time,
  • set the temperature,
  • manage lighting and audio.

The control panel is particularly important when the shower is used frequently: the technology should reduce the operations needed, not complicate them.

Music and Bluetooth.

Audio integration allows you to connect an external source to the cabin and listen to music or other content while showering. Our multifunction shower cabins are equipped with induction speakers, a radio system, and Bluetooth connection to external audio sources, to benefit from the relaxing properties of music therapy. It is a secondary function compared to steam, plumbing, and dimensions, but it can contribute a great deal to personalizing the daily experience.

How much space is needed for a multifunction shower?

Measurements should always be double-checked against the specific model and the final project before ordering. Before choosing the size, it is useful to check:

  • the width and depth actually available,
  • the usable height of the room,
  • the position of doors and windows,
  • the opening and accessibility of the cabin,
  • the position of drains and water supply,
  • any obstacles,
  • whether a seat is needed,
  • corner, alcove, or center-wall installation,
  • space needed for maintenance and servicing.

Shower with Turkish bath. What is needed to install it at home.

A shower with a Turkish bath requires a more thorough design check than a traditional shower enclosure, because it integrates water, steam, and electrical components. The technical check must always come before the purchase:

Measure the space: check width, depth, and height at the exact installation point.

Check the plumbing systems: the position and characteristics of water supply and drainage must be compatible with the planned configuration.

Check the electrical supply: steam generator, control panel, lighting, and audio require a design consistent with the product and with the bathroom environment.

Define the placement: corner, alcove, and center-wall each require different configurations.

Choose the correct steam generator: the power must be consistent with the volume of the cabin and with the manufacturer's specifications.

Plan for technical accessibility: the components must be reachable for checks and maintenance.

Check ventilation and humidity management in the room: the bathroom as a whole must be designed taking into account the frequent use of steam.

Multifunction shower enclosure, traditional shower, or custom hammam?

The three solutions meet different needs, namely essential cleansing, a shower with integrated wellness functions, or an environment dedicated mainly to steam.

Solution Main use Customisation Space Steam room
Traditional shower enclosure Daily showering Medium Small/medium No
Multifunction shower cabin Shower + integrated functions High From compact to spacious Available
Custom-made hammam Steam room experience Very high Depends on the project Central

Multifunction shower or custom Turkish bath?

The multifunction cabin concentrates multiple uses in the same space; the custom hammam instead favors the Turkish bath and design freedom.

Choosing a multifunction shower makes sense when:

  • the shower must remain the main daily use,
  • you want to add a Turkish bath in the same volume,
  • the space needs to serve multiple functions,
  • you want to integrate a shower head, waterfall, and body jets,
  • you are looking for a product designed as a unified system.

Considering a custom hammam makes sense when:

  • the Turkish bath is the main function,
  • you want a dedicated environment,
  • the project requires greater dimensional freedom,
  • larger seating is planned,
  • you are designing a true SPA area.

How much does a multifunction shower cost?

The cost of a multifunction shower depends on the configuration, not just the dimensions of the enclosure. For our solutions, the price is defined through a quote, based on the specific project. A comparison based solely on the price of the enclosure risks putting very different products on the same level in terms of structure, steam generator, materials, installation, and service.

Cleaning and maintenance of a multifunction shower cabin.

The presence of steam, nozzles, and technical components makes more mindful maintenance important compared to what an essential enclosure requires. In general, it is useful to:

  • dry or air out the cabin after use, keep glass and surfaces clean,
  • periodically check the nozzles,
  • avoid products incompatible with the finishes,
  • check the instructions for the steam generator,
  • follow the descaling procedures specified for the model,
  • keep the technical components accessible,
  • contact customer support in case of anomalies,

Mistakes to avoid when choosing a multifunction shower.

The most common mistakes arise from choosing the product before checking space, systems, and the real usefulness of the functions. The most common are:

  • buying based only on width and depth,
  • designing the plumbing before choosing the cabin,
  • choosing all available functions without evaluating their use,
  • confusing a multifunction shower column with a complete cabin,
  • comparing very different products based only on price,
  • underestimating accessibility and maintenance,
  • not planning for a seat if the Turkishbath will be used frequently,
  • neglecting installation and testing,
  • installing a cabin that is oversized for the space.

FAQ on the multifunction shower.

1. What is a multifunction shower?

A multifunction shower is a cabin that combines the normal shower with other functions, such as a Turkish bath, back jets, rain shower head, waterfall, chromotherapy, aromatherapy, and audio systems. The features vary depending on the model.

2. What is the difference between a shower enclosure and a multifunction shower cabin?

A shower enclosure mainly delimits the space dedicated to the shower. A multifunction cabin instead also integrates the structure, plumbing devices, and possibly electronic systems and a steam generator.

3. Can a multifunction shower have a Turkish bath?

Yes. Equipped cabins integrate a steam generator and a dedicated control system. The cabin must be designed to properly manage this function.

4. How much space is needed for a multifunction shower cabin?

It depends on the model. There are compact solutions and larger cabins. However, the size of the enclosure is not the only parameter: height, openings, systems, accessibility, and the layout of the room must also be checked.

5. Are there multifunction shower cabins for small bathrooms?

Yes. The range also includes compact configurations, such as the +110 model. Feasibility must in any case be checked against the actual measurements of the bathroom and the necessary provisions.

6. What are the back jets for?

The body jets direct water jets toward the back or side area and allow the cabin to be used in a different mode compared to the traditional overhead shower head.

7. How does the Turkish bath integrated into the shower work?

A generator produces steam and introduces it into the cabin through a diffuser. In the electronic configurations, temperature and duration can be managed through the touch control panel.

8. How much does a multifunction shower cost?

The cost varies based on dimensions, functions, steam generator, finishes, fixtures, options, customizations, and installation. The correct reference is a quote built around the project.

9. Does installing a multifunction shower require work?

It depends on the condition of the bathroom and the existing systems. Before installation it is necessary to check at least the space, the water supply and drainage, the electrical supply, and the requirements indicated in the technical data sheet.

10. Is a multifunction shower or a hammam better?

The multifunction shower is suitable when you want to combine a daily shower and wellness functions in the same space. A hammam is more suitable when the Turkish bath is the focus of the project and greater design freedom is desired.

11. How long does installation take?

There is no duration that applies to every bathroom. It depends on the existing situation, any adjustments needed to the systems, and the level of customization. The timeline should be defined after an on-site inspection.

12. Is a multifunction cabin more difficult to maintain?

It has more components than a traditional enclosure and therefore requires attention to the nozzles, surfaces, and steam generator. The procedures must follow the instructions specified for the particular model.
